The Closed Alpha
Toon Valley's first Alpha build. Players with an Alpha key can download the launcher and play: estates, gardens, fishing, Doodles, Toon duels, a new look and lots of fixes.
New Features
- Toon duels: challenge a friend from their Toon Card. Each round you both pick a gag in secret, then the gags play out in battle order, using your own gags, accuracy and damage. The first duel meter to empty loses. Duels never cost real laff or gags.
- Estates: every account has an estate with a Toon house, a garden, a fishing pond and rentals like the cannon game and game tables.
- Gardening: plant flowers by mixing jellybeans, water them, and pick them for your collection.
- Fishing: cast a line in the playground ponds and at your estate, and fill your fish bucket and collection.
- Doodles: adopt a Doodle from the Pet Shop, play with it at your estate and teach it tricks it can do in battle.
- Friends list: your friends are now on a Toon Valley phone that shows who's online at a glance, with Go To for teleporting to them.
- Toon Cards: click a Toon to open their card, with buttons to make friends, whisper and duel.
- Closed Alpha access: Alpha keys, and an Alpha list on the website that tells you your place in line.
Improvements
- Hold the right mouse button and use A and D to strafe, and Shift to sprint. Sprinting widens your view a little.
- Press E to open doors. The movement, sprint and interact keys can be changed in Options.
- The Field of View option is back in the Options page, up to 100.
- Zoom out further with the mouse wheel.
- Bigger laff meters over Toons' heads, sitting just above their names.
- Bigger battle menus: the gag picker, the Which Cog? panel and the Cogs' health cards are all bigger.
Bug Fixes
- Toon names are their proper colours again with the new lighting, instead of black.
- Chat bubbles, names and laff meters over Toons' heads are crisp again.
- Fixed black flashes when changing areas, and flickering on signs and building textures.
Visual Updates
- New lighting that follows the time of day, from sunrise through golden hour to night, with a mood for each playground and for holidays.
- A new chat box and SpeedChat button in Toon Valley colours.
- A new laff meter design.
- The Toon Valley title screen, logo and loading screen.
Technical Updates
- The launcher (version 1.3.0) installs the game, keeps it up to date and updates itself.
- The launcher's news board shows the latest news from toonvalley.net, and tells you if your account doesn't have Alpha access yet.
- Accounts can have an email address, for resetting a forgotten password and for alerts when your password changes.
